Interpreting for Emotional Encounters: Child and Family Welfare


Description

This course aims to prepare interpreters for what to expect from the highly sensitive and difficult assignments for child and family welfare meetings.  The course identifies the main challenges faced by interpreters and what strategies to use to overcome them using a trauma-informed approach to interpretation.  The video also describes the types of meetings and examples of the delicate topics that may be discussed so the interpreter can be prepared for these difficult conversations.  With tips and strategies for best practices, as well as practice scenarios, the interpreter will learn how to manage and cope with these sensitive encounters.
