This course is an overview of the medical specialty of Ophthalmology and the terminology interpreters need to know for assignments in this field. We discuss what ophthalmology is and the nature of ophthalmologic appointments as well as the key terminology for eye anatomy and function to help interpreters have more confidence interpreting in these settings, Additionally, this course provides explanations of the most common procedures and treatments, correct pronunciation of high register terms, and tips for preparing to interpret for advanced ophthalmologic encounters.
